Frequently Asked Questions

Below we've answered some of the most commonly asked questions about Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles from Chevy, Buick and GMC.

I'm currently a GM Certified Used Vehicle owner what has changed?

If you currently own a GM Certified Used Vehicle, you can have faith in our tagline: No Worries. We will still honor the warranties and extra benefits that came with your vehicle. GM remains a strong company, but for clarity’s sake, we decided it was best to identify the different GM makes in our name: Chevrolet, Buick, and GMC. To celebrate this change, we’ve added Owner Care, a new, even more comprehensive owner benefits package. Owner Care will come with your next vehicle, should you choose to purchase another Certified Pre-Owned vehicle from us.

How can I tell if my dealer is a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle dealer?

Many Certified Pre-Owned vehicle dealers have a Certified sign in front of their dealership. If you don’t see the sign, just stop by your local dealer to check, or use our Certified Pre-Owned Dealer Locator to locate a dealer near you.

Once I get to the dealership, how can I tell if a vehicle has been Certified?

Look at the vehicle’s window. Certified vehicles will have a window label identifying them as a Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle from Chevy, Buick, or GMC. Once you see a window label, you can be assured you’re entitled to receive the benefits that only Certified can bring.

Can vehicles with an open recall be certified?

Vehicles are not eligible to be Certified Pre-Owned vehicles unless the dealer first performs any needed recall repairs. GM has instructed its dealers to check for recalls and perform any needed repairs before listing any vehicle as a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle. Because of timing issues, or because of dealer error, it is still possible that a vehicle listed on this website needs a recall repair. To check for yourself whether any vehicle on this website needs a recall repair which has not been performed, type in the Vehicle Identification Number at

1Whichever comes first, from original in-service date. See participating dealer for limited warranty details.
